Tributes left after ‘sudden death’ of baby at home
A baby has died following a medical incident in Stockton, Teesside.
The alarm had been raised on Castleton Road on Sunday morning, at around 7.30am.
Cleveland Police received reports that a baby had suddenly died at a private address.
Officers were called to the address by paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) who had been called to a ‘medical incident’ moments earlier.
Two emergency ambulances were sent to the home where one patient was transported to University Hospital of North Tees. It has since been confirmed that a baby died.
Local media report that floral tributes have been left outside of the home, paying tribute to a ‘little princess’ and ‘brightest star in the sky’.
Cleveland Police say the death is currently being treated as unexplained. A post-mortem examination is set to take place in the future to determine the baby’s cause of death.
A spokesperson from the force said: ‘Police received a report of the sudden death of a baby at a property on Castleton Road, Stockton, around 7:30am on Sunday, May 28.
‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
‘Our thoughts remain with the family of the baby at this extremely difficult time.’
A NEAS spokesperson added: ‘We were called at 7:27am on Sunday, May 28 to a medical incident at a private address on Castleton Road, Stockton.
We sent two emergency ambulances and transported one patient to University Hospital of North Tees.’
