Around the league...
- No surprise: Shohei Ohtani was given the 2023 Edgar Martínez Award for the most outstanding designated hitter this past season. It’s his third consecutive year winning the award.
- Reports indicate the Brewers have in fact agreed to a record eight-year, $80M contract with prospect Jackson Chourio. The deal will include a pair of team options, potentially keeping him in Milwaukee through his age-30 season.
- The Mets agreed to a one-year deal with former Mariners reliever Austin Adams.
- The Mariners aren’t the only team that might deal from its wealth of starting pitchers — the Marlins are have conversations with teams about their young starters too.
- Baseball America named the Texas Rangers the 2023 Organization of the Year. The Mariners were given the honor in 2022. ($)
