Gamethread: White Sox at Twins
The White Sox hit the road, trying to avoid an 18th straight loss
As many days do, this one started with a fair amount of White Sox news. And as many days these days seem to start, the news wasn’t too good.

While a right elbow (flexor) strain is not the death knell “forearm tightness” can be, you don’t want your gilded starter, a pitcher who jumped right from Double-A to hold his own in the majors in all but three starts, going down like this. No tears to cry yet, but we are in uh-oh mode with our future ace.
The White Sox also grabbed a AAAA pitcher today, pushing their 40-player roster to 38. But like we always say, if you’re going to go scrap-heap shopping, shop in L.A.
The #WhiteSox have claimed right-handed pitcher Gus Varland off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and optioned him to Class AAA Charlotte.

Miguel Vargas, after misplaying a ball at the end of the game in left field on Sunday, gets the start much closer to the action, third base. This is also the first leadoff spot of his MLB career. Brooks Baldwin takes over shortstop for good, with Paul DeJong gone.
Do we care about the Twins lineup? I do not.
This is a 7:10 p.m. start in Minny, with the usual broadcast suspects.
