Manchester United return to the Europa League looking to clinch their first victory of this season’s competition.

The Red Devils have endured a pretty difficult start to the competition, drawing all three of their opening fixtures against FC Twente, Porto and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

But Thursday looks a good – dare I say straightforward – opportunity to collect maximum points against their Greek opponents.

With new head coach Ruben Amorim set to join on November 11, Ruud Van Nistelrooy will again take charge of the side.

The Old Trafford hero has secured a 5-2 victory over Leicester in the Carabao Cup and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea during his brief tenure as caretaker.

And with this his penultimate match, the Dutchman will be eager to prove his worth to the club and the incoming Amorim with a final European win.

The omens are certainly in his favour.

United have won all six of their home games against Greek sides by an aggregate score of 20-1, with this their first ever meeting with PAOK.

Though sitting in second in the Greek Super League following their title success last season, PAOK have lost five of their last six away Europa League matches.

There’s very little chance of Ruud Van Nistelrooy fielded a significantly weakened starting XI against POAK on Thursday.

As mentioned, the Dutchman will want a comprehensive victory, so the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho should all feature.

That could make for a very difficult evening for the visiting side, who’ve conceded six goals in three Europa League games – including three against Galatasaray in their only away trip in this season’s competition.

The Argentine, 20, has six goals in 16 appearances this season – with four of those arriving in cup competitions.
