I’m desperate to be married but my partner is taking his sweet time proposing

DEAR DEIDRE: ALL I want is to be married, but my partner is taking his sweet time getting down on one knee.

He always said that he would finally propose after he finalised his divorce with his ex, but it’s been over a year now, and I’m not any closer to walking down the aisle. 

I’m 34, he’s 38, and we’ve been together for four and a half years.

Our relationship is all I’ve dreamed of, and I truly do believe that he’s the man I’m supposed to spend the rest of my life with. 

However, I’m tired of waiting around for him to finally pop the question. 

Before, I understood him wanting to wait, but now I’m growing increasingly impatient.

He constantly talks about how he can’t wait for us to buy a house and build a future together and even goes as far as calling me ‘wifey.’  

So what’s taking him so long? 

Deidre says: It’s natural to feel upset and disappointed that your partner hasn’t proposed, especially when he’s got your hopes up and made comments about it in the past. 

While it’s clear you’re eager to take the next step in your relationship, it’s possible that he is unaware of how much you want to get engaged. 

Taking the time to openly communicate with him will help. He can’t read your mind, so it’s important that you’re honest about how you feel.
