Mom, newborn named victims of fatal Bennington Co. fire
SANDGATE, Vt. (NEWS10) -- Vermont State Police announced on Friday that the victims of a fatal New Year's Day house fire in Sandgate have been identified. Nicole Grogan, 22, and her 12-day-old son, Oliver Stratton, both perished in the incident.
The fire took place around 11:30 a.m. at a residence on Chunks Brook Road. State police said that the two survivors of the blaze are still hospitalized in New York.
The autopsies of Grogan and her child were conducted at the Burlington Chief Medical Examiner's Office. The manner of their deaths and the cause of the fire remain under investigation.
