'The Last of Us' Season 2 Finally Has Confirmed Its Release Date
The smash-hit post-apocalyptic TV series The Last of Us is finally coming back for its second season. And this time, the action will jump ahead five years beyond the events of Season 1. So, while it's been two years in our world, even more time will pass in the future-tense dystopia of The Last of Us.
We've known for a while that Season 2 of the show would hit this year, but now, with a surprise drop of a new trailer, HBO has (finally!) confirmed the exact release date window: The Last of Us Season 2 will begin streaming on HBO Max in April.
The new season looks to be even more explosive than Season 2 and the just-dropped trailer introduces us to Abby, a character from the first videogame sequel The Last of Us Part II, who will be played in the show by Kaitlyn Dever. She will join Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), who will both now be a bit older than when we last saw them.
Abby is a divisive figure in the lore of the Last of Us games, which means that her TV counterpart will surely shake things up. The ominous trailer suggests that while everyone is striving to have a moral code in this zombie hellscape, some people are getting ready to cross the line. For fans of the games, this means some very infamous twists and turns are probably coming in Season 2. For folks who got into The Last of Us with the show, buckle up. This is going to be a wild season.
