I married my school teacher – yes she’s 25 years older than me and no, I don’t care what you think
A WOMAN has revealed that she married her teacher, who is 25 years older than her.
But the Michigan lovers, who are happily in love, won’t listen and don’t care what people think about their age gap.
Monica Foster, 32, first met her now-wife Michelle, 57, in 2004, when she was her science teacher.
Seventeen years later, Monica, a self-confessed ‘teacher’s pet’, searched on Facebook to see how her former favourite teacher was doing.
The pair met up and became close friends before developing a romantic connection – despite being mistaken for mum and daughter ‘several times every day’.
Eager to ignore daily online abuse from trolls, the couple got engaged in Autumn 2022.
They then tied the knot in 2023 and are now happier than ever after a ‘perfect day’.
But in a post on social media, the couple were keen to shut down hate from keyboard warriors.
Alongside a lovely clip of the couple from their private beachfront wedding, the lovers penned: “Yes, I married my 7th grade teacher and no, I don’t care what you think.”
Monica, a content creator who has amassed 226,000 followers on Instagram also added: “After two years, we care a lot less about what people think because we’ve (don’t miss this) learned the importance of REPRESENTATION and we know that others in similar situations need to know they aren’t alone and there are others like them!”
Keen to encourage openness, Monica, a school bus driver, added: “It’s your life, you’re the only one who gets to live it and you’ll feel much more free when you live it YOUR way vs trying to please everyone else. Cheers to you and cheers to living a happy life.”
But the clip, which was posted under the username @michelleandmonica, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and racked up a jaw-dropping 119 million views.
And social media users quickly flocked to the comments, eager to share their thoughts on the couple’s relationship – with many trolls out in full force.
One person said: “This is mad weird.”
Another added: “This has to be illegal.”

Whilst someone else chimed in: “I can see God frowning from here.”

Following the barrage of negativity, Monica clapped back and wrote: “Can’t believe I even have to say this but she didn’t have feelings for me when I was 13 and I didn’t have feelings for her when I was 13….
“17 years passed and we reconnected when I came out of the closet and needed a friend.
“Learn the facts before you spew out hate…you never know what harm your lack of education/knowledge/facts can cause someone’s mental health.”

Not only this, but as reported by Daily Mail, Monica said: “Our wedding day was so significant to me – I don’t care what people think because they’re not living my life, I am.”
But whilst Monica ‘didn’t really have concerns’ about the age gap, Michelle initially struggled with it because of people’s assumptions.
She said: “People ask, “Is that your mother?” or even “Is that your grandma?” all the time.
“We learned to laugh or brush it off, but if you see me kissing her, why would you ask if she’s my mother?’
“Another question I get asked is whether I loved her when I was 13 – obviously not.
“At the time, we didn’t have any relationship besides her being a good teacher.”
