Former UAlbany star Brevin Easton signs with CFL's Tiger-Cats
ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) -- Brevin Easton will always have a special place in UAlbany football lore, helping the Great Danes to their best finish in program history, reaching the FCS semifinals in 2023. He had nine catches for 228 yards and three touchdowns in UAlbany's huge quarterfinal win over Idaho. Now, he's getting another crack at pro football.
Easton has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. "I'm definitely super excited for the opportunity just to continue to play football," said Easton. "Not everybody gets to play at, let alone the college level and then to get experience and to sign contracts and play professionally, so it's definitely something I'm looking forward to."
Easton spent the summer competing for a spot on the Jacksonville Jaguars 53-man roster, but was let go right before the season. Now he's looking to make most of this opportunity. "There's a good saying, 'Take advantage of the opportunity of a lifetime and the lifetime of the opportunity' and that's just something that I'm going to try to apply to myself," said Easton. "It's still a game at the end of the day, but it means so much to me and to a lot of people and I'm just ready to take advantage of any chance I get to step back on that field."
Training camp for the Tiger-Cats begins in May, with the regular season beginning in June.
