SAUSALITO
Spending increased
for sewerage project
The city has allocated more funds to the sewerage project near Alexander Avenue.
The Sausalito Marin City Sanitary District project aims to “repurpose” a wastewater main along the waterfront, according to a staff report by Ali Iqbal, a public works manager. The project requires the sewage connections to 19 properties to be disconnected from the district’s wastewater system and switched to the city’s system.
The city hired the CSW/ST2 engineering firm in 2023 for services related to the project. The contract allotted up to $50,756. The public works staff said another $83,297.75 is needed for additional field work and surveys.
The City Council approved the contract amendment at its meeting on Tuesday.
MARIN CITY
Suspect arrested in
child welfare probe
Authorities arrested a Marin City woman in connection with a child abuse investigation.
Jessica Lynette Denham, 24, had been investigated by the Marin County Children and Family Services division. On March 10, the agency and the sheriff’s office removed five children from her custody “due to reports of neglect and physical abuse,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
After additional investigation, the sheriff’s office arrested Denham on child cruelty allegations. They also booked her on suspicion of possessing of a loaded firearm and storing a gun in a place accessible by children. Her bail amount is set at $50,000.
The Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed two felony charges, corporal injury to a child and child endangerment. The criminal complaint alleges one victim.
Denham made a brief court appearance Thursday but did not enter a plea. The arraignment is scheduled for Friday.
TIBURON
Neighbors win pause
on plan to build home
The Town Council has kicked a home construction proposal back to the Design Review Board for further consideration.
The proposal calls for a new 2,400-square-foot house and garage at 21 Mara Vista Court, according to the town planning office. The Design Review Board approved the plan last month. The residents of a nearby property appealed, saying a proposed deck above the garage would cause noise and privacy intrusions, among other objections.
The council held a hearing on the appeal at its meeting on Wednesday.
“The council remanded the appeal to the Design Review Board with direction to the board to consider alternative locations of the deck and for staff to facilitate a discussion between the parties,” Town Clerk Lea Dilena said.
