Erin Andrews Opens Up About 'Really Hard Year' After Health Update
Earlier this month, beloved NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews shared a bit of a concerning health update after a cancer screening, but it sounds like she has been dealing with some other stressors at home, as well.
Andrews revealed earlier this month that she had a "pre-skin cancer situation" on her upper lip that required treatment.
“It’s a pre-skin cancer situation. I did a cream for five days on it,” Andrews said on her "Calm Down" podcast with Fox Sports reporter Charissa Thompson. “I went for the old — ‘Oh it’s a great idea until you get in the car’ skin check — the whole shebang… I wanted to pass out in the middle of it because I’m so afraid they’re going to find something.”
This was not Andrews' first cancer scare. The NFL reporter was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016, which she spoke about during a recent interview.

"You don’t want to get bad news, and most times, you’re not going to, but back in 2016, I just went for a routine check with the gynecologist," she told New Beauty on Friday. "I just went for my annual, which I do every single year. I got the call, which I knew wasn’t going to be a good one because it happened on a Saturday.
"When your gynecologist calls you on a Saturday, you’re pretty much like, 'Wait, what? Is this a telemarketer?' They called to just basically say, 'Look, we found some cells, and it looks like you have cervical cancer, so we need to start taking some steps.' I was blown away, I was numb, I was having an out-of-body experience, but after I went through the treatments, after I went through the surgeries, I later realized if I had not gone to the doctor, this would have been a much worse outcome."
Now, during the latest episode of the podcast, she opened up a bit about what she called a "really, really hard year."
Andrews and her husband, former Stanley Cup winner Jarret Stoll, recently welcomed their new son Mack, after years of fertility struggles.
Between her career as a reporter, her apparel brand, and her growing family, Andrews admits that it is simply not easy to balance everything.
“It’s really hard, it really is,” Andrews said. “My better half [Stoll] works in the hockey world, and so his season is going on at the same time. This was a really, really hard year. I’m going to get emotional about it.
“The first year when [Mack] was a newborn, it was fine. It was like smell ya later and I really wasn’t really saying [that], but it was like, ‘OK, bye!’ We worked so hard to have Mack, and it took us forever to have him — and we faced a lot of loss, and he finally came [via surrogate in the summer of 2023].
“I had this attitude like, ‘I have this career and this is how it’s going to be.’ And then he starts talking and realizing you’re leaving, and it was just really, really hard. And then I felt like the time I wasn’t studying, or on calls with players, or on Zooms that I had to be with him and not worrying about [my] clothing line [WEAR by Erin Andrews] and the podcast.”
Andrews went as far as to admit that she's had "multiple meltdowns" with Thompson, her friend and podcast host.
“I would just have multiple meltdowns with Charissa saying, ‘I feel like I’m not giving 100 percent of myself to my son, or my job or my clothing line and I feel like I am barely above water.’ And then your relationships start to suffer,” Andrews said.
“I didn’t see any of my girlfriends throughout football season and then I got through it and I had a couple weeks off, and I’ve said to her, ‘I don’t know,’ excuse me, ‘How the [expletive] I did that,’ this year because I’m also traveling.”
Between the stresses at home and her recent health scare, it's clearly been a rough time for Andrews.
