Amy Schumer Announces Decision On Weight Loss Drug
Comedian Amy Schumer has opened up about her decision on weight loss drugs.
Schumer, 43, has been open about her battles with losing weight as a woman in Hollywood. The longtime comedian and "Trainwreck" star previously took a weight loss drug, Wegovy, but she couldn't handle it. Schumer experienced bad side effects from the drug and had to stop.
“I was like puking, I couldn’t handle it. I don’t know if they’ve changed the formula, whatever," she said in a recent Instagram video.
But Schumer has since decided to get back on the weight loss drug train. Schumer is taking Mounjaro, a GLP-1 drug for type 2 diabetes. The drug has also been found to be effective at weight loss. Schumer has also been taking estrogen and progesterone, for her perimenopause symptoms.
It's been a very positive experience, thankfully.
"My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy. I want to 'get down' more, if you know what I mean," the Hollywood star said on Instagram.
"I'm talking about sex."
Amy Schumer's fans are praising her for her honesty about her health.
"Yes, health is wealth!" one fan wrote.
"You are the best," one fan added.
"It’s the best!!!! So glad you’re sharing this!!" one fan added.
Schumer added that it's been an overall great experience. She noted that the weight loss drug might not be covered by insurance for everyone, unless you are diagnosed with diabetes or "severe" obesity. But she wanted to be open about her weight loss with her fans.
"So, yeah, that's been great. Mounjaro's been great," Schumer said.
"But I'm having a really good experience, so I wanted to keep it real with you about that."
Schumer did also admit that there's one health craze that she promises to not be a part of.
"I want to commit to you that I will never get lip fillers, so you can always enjoy that I have no top lip," she joked.
