Here's how Beaver fans can get a new OSU license plate
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Beaver fans can now support their team in a whole new way.
The new Oregon State Beavers license plate will be available to purchase on April 7, the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles announced Monday.
The specialty plates will cost an additional $40 to purchase the first time -- as well as with each renewal and replacement.
After the DMV's administrative costs are deducted, the net proceeds from the surcharge will be put into OSU’s account, which will directly benefit the Beavers athletic department.
“Your support will help maintain competitive success and scholastic excellence to not only support the holistic development of our student-athletes but also bring joy to Beaver Nation,” Oregon State Director of University Marketing Carson Dunlap said.
The license plate design was approved by the Oregon Department of Transportation in consultation with OSU, Oregon State Police and testing by the Washington State Tolling Division.
"The Beaver plate joins DMV’s lineup of other specialty registration plates, including Crater Lake, Cultural Trust, Gray Whale, Oregon Ducks, Pacific Wonderland, Pollinator Paradise, Salmon, Smokey Bear, Trail Blazers, Watch for Wildlife and Wine Country," Oregon DMV said.
The OSU plate will be available through Oregon DMV by mail, but can also be ordered at DMV locations throughout the state.
