AFD: 1 person dead, 1 dog rescued in east Austin apartment fire
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- One person is dead, and a dog was rescued after a fire was reported at an east Austin apartment complex Monday, according to the Austin Fire Department.
AFD said multiple 911 calls came in around 3:45 p.m. about a second story apartment on fire in the 3400 block of Lynridge Drive.
AFD said crews responded in four minutes, and one minute later, they found the person and rescued them. The dog was also inside the structure and received emergency medical care.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics also responded to the scene and said on social media they performed CPR on the person rescued. However, medics and AFD said in an update that person was pronounced dead.
AFD will continue investigating the cause and damages of the fire. No other details were available Monday.
