Former teacher arrested on weapons charges posts bail
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The former Guilderland middle school teacher, who was arrested on weapons possession charges, has posted bail. His next court date is believed to be on April 9.
Akili-Abdul Duncan was arrested by the Guilderland Police Department in connection to a loaded pistol being found at Crossgates Mall in 2021. After the Crossgates arrest, Duncan was sent to the Albany County Jail.
One day later, he was picked up by the Rensselaer City Police and arrested in a separate case. Rensselaer police said he was arrested on charges related to a 2024 domestic incident where he was found with a loaded pistol. They said he does not have the required New York State pistol permit.
