NOW that spring has officially arrived, many of us will be eager to dust off the winter blues and give our homes a good, deep clean.
The new season brings with it a fresh start and a new beginning, which is why now is the ideal time to embrace a cleaner, more organised space.
And in a bid to help, experts have shared their top tips to make sure we don’t forget about all the hidden spots in the home that we might have been neglecting.
While we all remember to clean the main areas like the floors, counters and bathrooms, some spots could have slipped our minds.
Cleaning pro Joana Sadovskaja at Stunning Chairs has said there is one out-of-reach area that often gets forgotten about – and it’s a hive for dust and dirt.
While you may think your home is spotless, hidden grime under furniture like chairs, couches and beds could actually be making it filthy.
Furniture Specialist Joana said: “Many will conduct a spring clean in the coming months, giving their homes a refresh for the new season.
“This typically includes deep cleaning, decluttering, and addressing major household tasks.

“However, even after conducting a housewide clean, there could be one spot that needs attention.

“Dust, dirt, and other debris can accumulate under furniture such as chairs and beds, impacting the room’s appearance and air quality.”
The expert explained that it could even be dangerous to your health if it’s not cleaned often enough.
She added: “Neglecting this spot can disrupt the room’s environment and even put household members’ health at risk.
“The dust and dirt collected over time can lead to dust mites and bacterial growth, potentially exacerbating allergies and respiratory issues.
“This buildup requires a deeper cleaning, so regularly maintaining this area is beneficial.
“The same applies to behind furniture. Regularly checking behind the sofa or cabinets is crucial to maintaining a healthy home.
“Dust and dirt can accumulate behind surfaces, and poor circulation and damp conditions could lead to mould and mildew growth.
“Leaving this spot unchecked for an extensive amount of time could be a health risk and cause an unpleasant odour to develop.
“Neglecting these areas can also damage the furniture over time.
Five simple hacks to cut costs on spring cleaning
SPRING cleaning may feel a little daunting when you start to think about all the cleaning products you'll need to pick up.
Luckily, experts have revealed that a thorough spring clean doesn’t have to break the bank.
Katy Phillips, a product expert at price comparison website idealo, has said there are plenty of clever, cost-effective ways to spruce up your home while keeping costs low.
- DIY cleaning solutions – “Skip over the expensive cleaning products and make your own using household staples. White vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice can tackle everything from limescale to greasy surfaces.”
- Declutter and sell unwanted items – Spring cleaning isn’t just about tidying – it’s an opportunity to declutter and make some extra cash!”
- Repurpose & upcycle – “Instead of buying new storage solutions, get creative with what you already own.”
- Target high-impact areas – “Focusing on key areas like carpets, sofas, and curtains. Sprinkle baking soda on carpets and hang curtains in the bathroom during a hot shower.”

Joanna has revealed that we should be cleaning these areas every two to four weeks with a vacuum to prevent build-up.
And when it comes to giving it a deep clean, we should be pulling the mop and microfibre cloths out every few months.
She said: “How often you should clean these spots depends on the household’s size, whether there are pets and the room’s foot traffic.
“A good rule of thumb is to spot-clean these areas every two to four weeks, using a duster or vacuum.
“Deep clean every couple of months with a mop or microfibre cloth and cleaning solution to maintain a healthy, germ-free home.”
