3/27/2025: Bright & brisk Thursday
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
Happy Thursday - it's Opening Day for most major league baseball teams today, area drive ins are starting to open up... you can tell spring is in the air!
It'll be a fairly nice early spring day to go along with it all, with sun, a bit of a breeze, and highs near 50. Clouds develop after sunset, and we will see a quick shot of mountain snow and valley rain overnight.
We clear out by the Friday morning commute, and the rest of the day looks dry. Expect temperatures to range from around 30 in the morning to the low or mid 50's in the afternoon for Albany and points south and east.
More clouds develop Friday afternoon ahead of a very unsettled weekend. A front will stall out right over the Capital District, separating 30's up north from 60's down south.
There will also be some showers along that boundary. While most see on and off rain, there could be wintry mix and ice on the northern, colder side of that system. Be careful!
We're forecasting 50's for both days in the Capital District, but again your temperatures will very dramatically across the rest of our area. More showers for Monday, but with more consistently mild temperatures.
Tuesday looks cool and bright for the first day of April. Showers return for Wednesday with highs falling just short of 50.
