‘The White Lotus’ Star Can’t Believe What’s Getting Her So Much Attention
Aimee Lou Wood says she has come full circle. In March 2025, The White Lotus star appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show and addressed all the attention her unique smile has drawn.
Wood, 31, plays Chelsea, the younger girlfriend of Walton Goggins’ gruff Rick character, on the third season of The White Lotus. In one of her earliest scenes on the HBO hit, her character is complimented by fellow wellness resort guest Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon), who tells her, “I love your teeth.”
Wood told Ross that thanks to her role in The White Lotus, she has experienced similar real-life love after years of being bullied over her looks. “I can’t believe the impact my teeth are having,” Wood said. “Because the Americans can’t believe—but they’re all being lovely.”
Wood noted that she once worried about not landing acting roles because she didn’t have “perfect Hollywood teeth.” Amid her White Lotus fame, she said she gets messages from people who “dissect” her smile and tell her what’s wrong with it. “But at the end go, ‘But we don’t think she should change a thing,’” she added.
“Oh my God, it feels so lovely,” Wood said. “A real full-circle moment after being bullied for my teeth forever. Now people are clapping in an audience because I’ve got these gnashers.”
The White Lotus actress did warn fans not to try replicating her choppers at home. “I hope people don’t start filing their teeth so they have gaps,” she said on Ross’s show.
In a separate interview, Wood, who hails from England, told Stylist she worried that she wouldn’t get The White Lotus role because she wasn’t “conventional-looking enough.”
Instead, her unconventional looks garnered her massive attention from viewers who embraced her unique beauty. “People going, 'Oh my God, you've got teeth like mine. Now I go to school and people think I'm cool because I look like Aimee.' Instead of it being 'Bugs Bunny' or whatever," she said.
While her confidence has been given a major boost, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wood admitted that when she first arrived on The White Lotus set in Thailand last year, she was intimidated by the rest of the cast.
“These people live in Hollywood,” she explained. “I live in my little flat in South East London, and I’m so British in my sensibility that I wasn’t sure how to handle being around so many people who are so front-footed and confident. …Even the way [White Lotus fans] are talking about me and my teeth — that I don’t have veneers or Botox — it feels a bit rebellious.”
