'Combative' suspect with .32 BAC arrested after Hillsboro hit-and-run
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A "combative" suspect was arrested after crashing into a parked car and fleeing, authorities said.
According to Hillsboro police, officers responded to a crash near Northeast Evergreen Road and Northwest Glencoe Road around 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Witnesses at the scene told dispatch that a truck had driven off the road and crashed into a parked car and a shed.
When officers arrived, they said a passenger in the truck was injured and taken to a hospital, and that the driver had fled the scene on foot.
Hillsboro Fire & Rescue firefighters found the suspect while driving in the area, and with police assistance, authorities said they were able to capture him.
Police said that the man was "combative" and they had to use the "WRAP Restraint System" to subdue him.
"When it comes to safely managing people in high-risk situations, the WRAP Restraint System plays a crucial role in minimizing harm and ensuring the safety of the arrested person, police officers, and in this case, firefighters," Hillsboro police shared on Facebook.
The suspect, later identified as Anthony Corrigan Jr., 25, was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and authorities said that he had a blood-alcohol content of .32%, which is 4 times the legal limit.
Corrigan faces numerous charges, including driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, fourth-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and failure to perform duties of a driver to injured persons.
