Saratoga Spa State Park receives $6.1M electrical infrastructure improvements
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Electrical improvements at the Saratoga Spa State Park are underway. According to the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the $6.1 million improvement project will replace current electrical components to modernize the power grid.
According to the park, the project will expand the electrical strength from 4 kilovolts to 13.2 kilovolts. It will also replace outdated transformers, cables and switches.
"As stewards of this treasured National Historic Landmark, it is our duty to ensure that the core infrastructure and foundation of Spa Park is reliable and resilient for the future," said Randy Simons, Commissioner Pro Tempore of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. "Keeping this essential, but often unnoticed infrastructure in good repair is crucial for a quality experience for our visitors."
As park of the project, a planned power outage is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. During this time, the Administration Building, Roosevelt I and II, SPAC Amphitheater, Hall of Springs, Gideon Putnam Hotel, golf clubhouses, Victoria Pool Complex will all be out of power.
Pathways and parking lot lighting will also be affected. According to Parks, the project is expected to be completed in December.
According to the park, announcements on power outages will be shared on the park's Facebook page and on the park's website.
