Recognition: San Marin High School seniors Disha Divakar and Domi Janot won first place in parliamentary debate at the Golden Gate Speech Association’s state-qualifying tournament on March 1. The two are co-presidents of San Marin’s Speech and Debate Team. As a debate team, they qualify for the state tournament in Culver City in May. They are the second team in school history to qualify for the state championship in debate — and the first all-female team from San Marin High School to achieve this honor.
The San Marin team also won third place overall sweepstakes in parliamentary debate, an award based on cumulative wins across novice, junior varsity and varsity divisions throughout the season’s three Golden Gate Speech Association tournaments.
