Talk Show Host Shades Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones
Someone isn't too happy with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Longtime Cowboys fan Kelly Clarkson, 42, didn't hold back her true feelings about the longtime franchise owner while chatting all things life and football with Kylie Kelce on the Not Gonna Lie podcast.
"I just read something with my sister and I guess Jerry Jones had said, ‘Well, now is the time,' Clarkson said. "And I was like, ‘Oh, Ok. It was different from the last ‘now’s the time.’ Very different from last year’s time, which was also the time."
Clarkson appeared to be referring to Jones' fairly consistent comments about how the "next" season will be the one that the team makes it to the Super Bowl. However, season after season, Dallas fans — Clarkson included — have been left disappointed.
"Our team is probably one of the most hated,” Clarkson told Kelce, who is married to former NFLer Jason Kelce. "Because I also think, too, we’re always so hopeful. I don’t think there’s been more dreamers since the ‘90s. Every year is our year."
Like many teams in the NFL, the Cowboys are using the offseason to flesh out their roster. Things will look different in 2025 after the team ended their contract with head coach Mike McCarthy after four seasons and hired their offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to replace him. However, that doesn't automatically mean that the team will be in contention for a playoff spot.
Though there are rumors about a switch up for the team's shot caller, quarterback Dak Prescott will more than likely enter his 10th season with the team. Though he's coming off major surgery, Prescott was seen practicing with some of his teammates in a photo that was posted on X.
There's plenty more that goes into it, of course, but some fans aren't getting their hopes up — and it sounds like Clarkson's in the same boat.
