Paul Rudd Hilariously Trolled by Co-Star for Rare Honor
Paul Rudd has received nominations for numerous roles and films he’s starred in over the years. However, one honor that stands alone in terms of uniqueness is the Ant-Man star’s nod from People.com as the 2021 Sexiest Man Alive.
The rare accolade led to a few jabs from his Death of a Unicorn co-star, Jenna Ortega, during a recent interview with Etalk.
Ortega was asked if it was more daunting to take on the "scary, mystical creatures" in their new film or the fact that People's 2021 Sexiest Man Alive would be her on-screen father. Not surprisingly, the Wednesday actress's response didn't disappoint.
"Both are equally terrifying. I think what I will say, though, I actually didn't even know that Paul was Sexiest Man Alive. He just kept mentioning it on set, so it was like really uncomfortable and strange," Ortega joked.
"He carries it around with him, it's like a really personal thing to him. He exudes it," Ortega continued. "You can't tell, but behind those curtains, he's got multiple copies for everyone who helped him get ready today."
As expected, Rudd took his co-star's joke in stride, going right along with it. The 55-year-old actor joked that he signs the magazine and gives it out to people as a "thanks for your hard work" while sarcastically stating he gave Ortega a "business card" with the title on it.
Since receiving that honor, Rudd's successors include Chris Evans (2022), Patrick Dempsey (2023), and John Krasinski (2024).
