'The Last of Us' Creator Confirms Series End in 6 Words
Popular series The Last of Us will be coming to an end, according to the show's co-creator, Craig Mazin.
In an interview with People, Mazin said that he's planning on another season of the show but isn't too sure what will happen past that. Mazin was asked if he and co-creator Neil Druckmann had plans to write a script that didn't follow the video game that the show is based off of — and he said no.
"Neil and I really are focused on telling the story that's there," Mazin told the outlet in an interview published on March 30. Then, in just six words, he made it clear that The Last of Us will wrap its story.
"It will come to an end," he admitted, adding that he's not sure if the last season will be 3 or 4.
The HBO series, which stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, first debuted in January 2023. It's based on an action-adventure game by the same name that was released in 2013.
Fans of the show have waited more than a year for the highly anticipates second season, which will premiere on April 13.
As for what fans can expect moving forward, Mazin and Druckmann previously told GQ that Part II of the series will span more than just one season. When the outlet asked the co-creators if season 2 will "span the entire course of the second game," both were quick to say no.
"It’s more than one season," Druckmann said.
For fans hoping to brush up on the show ahead of season 2, the first season is currently streaming on Max.
