7 displaced after fire on Northern Boulevard in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Seven people have been displaced following a structure fire in Albany on Saturday, the Albany Fire Department told NEWS10. The incident was located at 241 Northern Boulevard, between Colonie Street and Beverly Avenue.
The fire department was reportedly dispatched to the scene at about 8:16 a.m., arriving three minutes later. According to officials, the fire was located between the second floor and attic area of a 2.5-story wood frame structure.
The fire was contained in around 20 minutes, the fire department said. All occupants had reportedly self-evacuated prior to authorities' arrival and there were no reported injuries to civilians nor firefighters.
Seven occupants from two households in the building — three from the first floor, four from the second floor — have been displaced. The Northeastern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross offered emergency aid to the individuals, including financial assistance, health services and comfort kits.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, the Albany Fire Department said. Stay with NEWS10 for updates.
