Kenan Thompson Addresses Morgan Wallen's 'SNL' Walk-Off
Controversial country music star Morgan Wallen made headlines over the weekend when he walked off stage early on Saturday Night Live during the closing credits.
Following his appearance on the show, in which he appeared as the musical guest, Wallen took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo of a private jet along with the cryptic caption, "Get me to God's country."
In an interview with FOX 5 NY, long-running SNL cast member Kenan Thompson weighed in on the controversy.
“I don’t know if he understood the assignment,” Thompson said.
Thompson has also been part of the story thanks to his reaction to Wallen's walk off. Fans on social media were quick to point out that Ego Nwodim and Kenan Thompson appeared puzzled by Wallen's departure, with Thompson giving Nwodin a look that seemed both amused and uncertain as he watched Wallen leave.

When asked by Rosanna Scotto what was the backstory behind Wallen’s sudden exit, Thompson revealed he has no idea.
“I’ve been reading as much as you’ve been reading,” Thompson continued. “Apparently he didn’t know to stay or something like that. It doesn’t matter. It was a great show.” Subsequent reporting has claimed that Wallen did not mean the move as a slight to the SNL cast, although neither he nor his team have directly addressed the issue.
Thompson then went on to praise newly minted Oscar-winner Mikey Madison, who was the host for Saturday Night Live.
"Mikey did great," he concluded. "She's having such an incredible run with her career right now, so celebrate that I guess."
