Crocs Trolls Nike Over New Shoe With 'Rent Free' Post on Social Media
Nike recently released a shoe in its women's line officially called the "Nike ReactX Rejuven8," a new comfort shoe that was unveiled in six different colors that are so far are still available in a number of sizes, with the exception of the sold out "Pinksicle" colorway.
Now, depending on which photo of the new shoe that's being viewed within the eight slides of varying angles, it wouldn't be shocking for someone to think of Crocs and the company's signature, relatively hard-to-miss "holes" look that was fist introduced back in 2002.
But it also wouldn't be all too surprising for a brand of any kind to be inspired by another brand's design.
However, it certainly appears that the people at Crocs have taken some exception to Nike's creation of the "ReactX Rejuven8."

In what was initially posted as a very brief Instagram story with the amusing caption of "we're living rent free in your head huh @nike"—which was accompanied by some pretty equally amusing, reveal-style music—the post has since begun to make the rounds within the sneaker community on other platforms.
For starters, it probably goes without saying that there are some very clear and obvious commonalties between the two shoes shown in the above post from @NiceKicks on X.
But considering the well-crafted, troll move by Crocs was kept within the confines of an Instagram story rather than serving as a stand-alone IG post that would be wide open to endless replies from its 2.6 million followers—for better or worse—it kind of comes across as just a playful dig.
Whatever the goal might have been, when you've managed to capture the attention of Sole Retriever for official commentary on a potential "shoe beef" within the business, it's probably safe to say the mission was accomplished and—if nothing else—the world of comfort shoes has been staunchly reminded of Crocs and their well-documented, strong space within the industry.
