VIDEO: Hail, lightning, ominous clouds seen around Portland Monday
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Like the saying goes, 'March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion.' Stormy weather moved through the Portland area Monday.
The turbulent March weather continued Monday as small hail, lightning, and ominous clouds were found across the region. A stronger thunderstorm cell started to form between McMinnville and Newberg around 4 p.m. As it moved to the northeast Monday evening lightning became a frequent characteristic of this latest round of moist.
Hail reports came into the KOIN 6 Weather department from southwest Portland to northeast Portland from around 5 p.m. The thunderstorm never turned severe weather, with hail remaining near pea-size. Once the storm moved into southwest Washington it began to lose strength and reverted to heavy rain showers.
