Plug Power, Inc. laying off 261 Capital Region employees

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Plug Power, Inc. is laying off 261 employees throughout the Capital Region effective June 23, per the New York State Department of Labor. The DOL said the reason for the layoffs is economic.

At the Slingerlands location, 180 of 548 employees are being laid off. At the Latham location, 79 of 179 employees are being laid off. Lastly, at the Clifton Park location there are two out of seven employees being laid off.

All employees were notified on Tuesday, March 25. None of them were represented by a union.
