Watervliet man indicted on attempted murder, assault charges
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Watervliet man was formally charged Monday in a six count indictment, according to the Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office. Jahnye Griffin, 21, is accused of attacking and robbing a Lansingburgh man.
On March 24, officers responding to a report of an assault at 750 Second Avenue located a man with serious injuries. An investigation determined Griffin, the suspect, allegedly agreed to meet the man and beat and choked the man before running off with the victim’s cell phone, once they did meet.
Griffin was charged with Second-degree attempted murder, First-degree assault, and First-degree robbery. However, on Monday, he was indicted on additional charges as well.
Griffin was indicted on:
- Second-degree attempted murder
- First-degree assault
- First-degree Burglary
- Two counts of First-degree Robbery
- Second Degree Strangulation
Griffin was remanded without bail to the Rensselaer County Jail. If found guilty of attempted murder, Griffin faces up to 25 years in prison.
