Man charged with gun possession after Albany traffic stop
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Tuscaloosa man was arrested Tuesday after officers found a loaded 9mm handgun in his car during a traffic stop. According to the Albany Police Department, Marcus Lewis, 33, faces multiple charges.
According to police, around 2:15 a.m., an officer was flagged down near Madison Avenue and Delaware Avenue for a menacing incident involving a handgun. During the investigation, officers discovered the victim was sitting in a parked car when approached by a male who allegedly pointed a gun at him before fleeting in a car.
Officers later found the car near Henry Johnson Boulevard and State Street and initiated a traffic stop. Lewis was identified as the driver, and officers reported finding a loaded handgun in the car.
Lewis was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
On Tuesday, Lewis was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court. He was then remanded to the Albany County Jail, with bail set at $50,000.
