'I Got a Picture in my Pocket!' Jason Momoa Almost Just Spoiled 'Lobo'
While making the press rounds with Jack Black for the new live-action Minecraft movie, Jason Momoa nearly revealed a photo of himself in full makeup as Lobo. The super-popular DC antihero, as played by Momoa, will appear in the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which stars Milly Alcock in the lead role as Supergirl/Kara Zor-El.
During an interview with Jeff McCobb of CinemaBlend, Momoa was asked whether or not the white makeup would cover his entire body, or only the parts that show. Momoa responded, "Yeah, I'm covered."
After that revelation, Momoa told McCobb, "I got a picture in my pocket," and walked over to his phone prepared to show off the first pic of himself as Lobo in Supergirl. But on the sidelines of the interview, Momoa's publicist intervened saying, "Don't do it." Momoa laughed, heeded the warning, and the publicist noted, "It will be worth the wait."
So, just like Lobo himself, Momoa is proving to be an agent of pure chaos in the lead-up to his next big role. Recently, in discussing Dune 3, Momoa also made it clear he was returning for that film, which, although assumed, had not been officially confirmed.
Even though he previously played Aquaman in the DCEU films, Momoa is returning to the world of DC comics as Lobo, for what he has described as a "dream role."
Lobo is a kind of cranky antihero in the DC comics universe, and has been sometimes likened to the DC version of Wolverine. But if you look at comics from the 1990s, it's impossible not to see a version of Momoa somehow insinuating himself into comic book history.
Minecraft hits theaters on April 4. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is expected in theaters on June 26, 2026.
