This Toddler Ate the Most Unbelievable Thing in a Viral TikTok & It Will Leave You Absolutely Speechless
Toddlers are truly unhinged creatures. Feral, even. They seem hell-bent on hurting themselves, and they put everything in their mouths. My son once broke apart a glow stick and ate the gooey insides. He’s also licked windows while out in public, so nothing really fazes me … or so I thought. As a mom of three boys, I am shocked (but not surprised) at what this one mom found her toddler son eating. She shared a video of the unbelievable moment, which has since gone viral on TikTok, and we are utterly speechless.
TikToker @palominolil shared a video of something she caught her son eating, and it has reached 14.4 million views in just two days. But he didn’t get into the cookie jar or anything else you might expect. No, this little boy ate the ashes of his grandfather!
“Oh my god,” the mom can be heard saying in the short clip. She walks around a messy playroom/office, which is filled with toys and other perfectly acceptable things to put in one’s mouth, before zooming in on an open urn with ashes spilled out. She turns the camera to show ashes all over the couch, then powdery white ashes all over her son’s mouth and t-shirt.
“My son has eaten my dad’s ashes,” she continues, right as her son starts to cry. He knows he messed up, but there’s no way he’ll grasp how grave (no pun intended!) the situation is until he gets older.
I feel so bad for her, but this is also so dang funny. How did this little boy get the ashes? My son’s a climber, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he reached up high for them. Did they taste good? It’s obvious he tried it and then just kept eating it and spreading it around. Where do you go from here? Do you call poison control or his pediatrician (or, you know, a religious leader)? Give him a bath and call it a day? One thing’s for sure: filming it was definitely the right answer, because this is the funniest thing we’ve ever seen. And with over 15 million views in just two days, a lot of other people thought so, too.
The comments were a treasure trove of hilarity that’ll hopefully cheer up this mom. Like this person, who blamed it on the red hair: “soul stealing gingers be like ????????????.”
Others thought of the future. “He’ll never lose 2 truths and a lie,” one commenter quipped. Another joked, “’He lives in you’ taken to a whole different level.”
“Tomorrow he’s going to yell at you for touching the thermostat,” someone else wrote. Another asked, “???????? Why’s he whining? was your dad bitter?”
The jokes just keep on coming, with this person writing, “I don’t think this is how reincarnation is supposed to work.”
Some comments were not as nice, though, like one person who judgily wrote, “Your child is too young to be left unattended. This is your fault, not your child’s. Be thankful he hasn’t died from neglect.” Yikes! Has this person met a toddler? You could have your eye on them every second and they might still do something like this. Not to mention, he was in a seemingly kid-proof room full of toys. I don’t blame her at all. He probably did this in the 2.5 seconds it took her to round the corner to catch up with him.
In a new TikTok, the mom responded, “I’m sure everyone makes mistakes and leaves things in the wrong places. Thinks they’re going to be OK.”
“Accidents happen. Yes, I made a mistake,” she continued. “I left it in a place where he accidentally got it. But how are people doing jobs like housework, work, cleaning, going to the toilet with a toddler as a single parent without leaving them for a few minutes?” Exactly! She added, “Do I just wear him as a backpack from now on?” And while you’re at it, cover him in bubble wrap too!
Most people were so supportive, like this person who wrote, “I’m not even a mom but i know it takes .8 seconds for a toddler to get into something. This is NOT neglect ????????♀️”
This mom has to be stressed out enough as it is dealing with the emotional loss of some of her dad’s ashes, not to mention the cleanup and trauma of the fact that her child ate the ashes, without having to deal with mom shamers calling her neglectful. Like all moms, she’s doing the best she can. And if we can find some humor in that, it’s all the better!
