Contaminated perfume is urgently recalled in UK over serious health risk as shoppers warned ‘stop using it NOW’
TK MAXX has issued an urgent recall of a product, with shoppers warned it could cause an allergic reaction.
Customers have been urged to stop using the item, to avoid getting unpleasant side affects.
The Byblos Blu Happy Hour Eau De Toilette was sold in the department store between January and March, 2025, and has now been removed from shelves.
The perfume contained a chemical which is not authorised for use in Europe, due to the risk of allergic reactions.
A safety notice reads: “This product contains Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, also known as Lyral or HICC, which is not authorised for use in cosmetics in Europe due to the risk of allergic reaction in sensitised individuals.
“If you have purchased this product, please stop using it immediately and return to any TK Maxx store.”
Anyone who is in possession of the product should head to their local TK Maxx store, where they will be able to get a full refund or replacement.
The product codes for the perfume are 898365, 898370, 898378.

This comes after a huge chocolate brand recalled two items from UK supermarkets over a “risk of small stones” in its bars.
Tony’s Chocolonely issued a warning to its customers, telling them not to eat the Dark Almond Sea Salt and Everything Bar.
Although the risk of small stones being present in the product is small, the brand wanted to “ensure the safety and satisfaction” of its customers.
The products affected are the the Dark Almond Sea Salt 180g and Everything Bar 180g with specific lot codes: 162633, 162614, 163061, 4331, 4332, 4333.
Elsewhere, Sainsbury’s has issued a voluntary product recall for two air fryer models from electronics brand Tower.
Customers are being urged to return the gadget for a full refund.

Product recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.
As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.
But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

The discount supermarket has urgently recalled its Sol & Mar Chicharricos BBQ Pork Scratchings after the problem was found.
The recall affects 100g packets of the pork scratchings with best before dates ranging from August 5, 2025 through to August 12, 2025.
Anyone who has bought the product has been told not to eat it and to return it to their nearest store for a full refund.
