Fight at carnival outside Vancouver Plaza escalates into shooting Thursday night
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A teen was arrested Thursday night after a shooting at a Vancouver Plaza, authorities said.
According to Vancouver police, officers responded to a shooting report in the Vancouver Plaza parking lot where a carnival was being held.
Officers said they learned a group of youths had been involved in a fight, and one fired a gun, shooting someone else in the stomach.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital by a witness, and police said that the victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
A containment area was set up, but police said they couldn't locate the suspect, who by that point had already been identified.
Detectives later said they found out the suspect was at home, and they were able to take him into custody.
The 16-year-old was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and faces charges including first-degree assault with a firearm and injury and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
