“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. wil not start April 9, 2025, in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date,” Nintendo shared in a statement, via Deadline.
While the preorders are being delayed, the June 5th launch date is remaining the same.
On Wednesday (April 2), Trump announced higher than expected tariffs on goods from China (34% + already current 20%), the European Union (20%), Japan (24%), Taiwan (32%) and Vietnam (46%).
The tariffs are causing increased prices among many industries, which could also be affecting Hollywood studios, streamers and more, as well as, of course, the automotive industry and grocers.
These tariffs are expected to kick in on April 9th.
