Blaze at Disneyland sends black smoke flying over theme park as fire spreads and emergency services attend
DISNEYLAND was rocked by a dramatic fire on Friday as thick black smoke billowed into the skies over the “happiest place on Earth.”
Fire crews rushed to the scene after a blaze broke out on the upper levels of the Pixar Pals parking garage at the Anaheim, California resort.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue arrived at 9.47am local time, quickly tracing the flames back to a Toyota RAV4 that had caught fire.
The inferno spread to several nearby vehicles before it was brought under control.
“When units arrived, they found the fire had spread to two or three additional vehicles,” a fire department spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times.
Anaheim police Sgt. Jacob Gallacher confirmed: “The fire spread to several other vehicles, but was quickly extinguished.”
Social media lit up with photos and videos showing flames engulfing one car as smoke billowed ominously above the resort.
Paramedics were called out as a precaution but no injuries were reported.
The incident caused major disruption at the resort, with large parts of the surrounding area closed off and families forced to wait for hours to access their cars as firefighters battled the blaze.
A witness shared a dramatic photo from inside the garage showing flames erupting in the middle of a cluster of vehicles as smoke filled the structure.
By Friday evening, the exterior of the parking garage was visibly blackened by fire damage.
Officials believe the RAV4 was the source of the fire, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
Disneyland representatives have not yet commented on the incident.
The blaze comes just weeks after a huge fire broke out at Disney World’s Epcot theme park in Florida.
It forced the evacuation of the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride as smoke poured into the sky near the replica Eiffel Tower.
A Disney spokesperson later confirmed the flames had started in a walk-in cooler behind the France Pavilion.
The fire was quickly put out, and no injuries were reported.
