DOCS: Texas County District Attorney files motion for testing of evidence in KS moms murder case
TEXAS COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — Texas County DA, George Leach III has filed an application for testing of evidence in the murder cases of Kansas women Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley.
The two mothers were brutally killed in March 2024, after vanishing in route to pick up Butler's children for a supervised visit in rural Oklahoma with the kids' grandmother, Tiffany Adams.
Tiffany Adams, Tad Cullum, Cole Twombly, Cora Twombly and Paul Grice are each charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, Kidnapping and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
During the April 2024 arraignment of Adams, Cullum and the Twombly's, Butler's aunt LaDonna Thompson said, "They deserve to rot and burn in the depths of hell for all I care. I don't know how we're supposed to make two children live the rest of their lives without their beautiful mom. This isn't fair. It's not fair at all."
In court paperwork obtained by News 4, the District Attorney is asking the court for permission to do forensic testing on key evidence to get a DNA analysis.
Here's a list of items wanting to be tested:
OSBI said if they're able to test these items, they will have a biological sample.
Attorneys for all five defendants have 15 days to file a response, with a hearing on the motion scheduled for May 14.
