One dead after head-on collision in Delaware County
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead after a head-on collision in Delaware County, near Highbanks Metro Park.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle fatal crash occurred Monday morning at approximately 6:50 a.m. on State Route 750 in Delaware County’s Orange Township. That’s where a man operating a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling westbound, veered left of center and struck a 2014 Nissan Altima, traveling eastbound.
The driver of the Nissan, 56-year-old Abdimalik Hirad, of Worthington, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Silverado was taken an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The OSHP said Hirad was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the driver of the Silverado was wearing a safety belt. The OSHP investigation, which remains ongoing, was assisted by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Delaware County EMS and Orange Township Fire and EMS.
