U.S. Gymnast Suni Lee Grabs Attention with NBA Game Photos
Olympic gold-medal-winning gymnast Suni Lee might have been the New York Knicks' lucky charm at their game against the Phoenix Suns on April 6. The 22-year-old athlete sat courtside at Madison Square Garden for her first-ever Knicks game — they won 112 to 98.
Basketball fans seemed to think that she brought her Olympic magic to the game because OG Anunoby managed to clock 32 points once Lee was spotted on the Jumbotron.
"Keep attending. Had my boy OG doing s**t I've never seen him even attempt to do," an X user wrote under snapshots Lee posted of herself at the game. "Attend some Knicks playoff home games," another account added. "I need more of this current OG Anunoby." There was even an old-school reference with a fan pointing out, "You had OG looking like Wilt [Chamberlain] out there btw."
After helping Team USA win the gold in Paris last summer, Lee moved to New York City to start the next chapter of her life. “I'm just living my life,” she told People in October 2024. “I've never really been without gymnastics, so this is completely brand new to me, and I'm still figuring out a routine and learning all the places, but it's been really fun.”
As for the Los Angeles Summer Games in 2028, Lee is taking it "day by day, but she's not currently training in her sport. The most important thing to her is keeping her health in check after battling two different kidney diseases between the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympics.
Lee isn't thinking about the future, but it sounds like the Knicks fans would at least like her to attend a playoff game. Her gold-winning magic seemed to work on Anunoby on Sunday.
