Meghan Markle Announces Scary Health News
Meghan Markle is opening up about a "huge medical scare" that she went through.
The 43-year-old wife of Prince Harry opened up about her scary health news during her “Confessions of a Female Founder” podcast this week. Markle, who has been making headlines for her new businesses and Netflix show, made the announcement on Tuesday’s premiere episode.
Markle admitted that she experienced the scary health situation after giving birth.
“It’s so rare and so scary,” the Duchess of Sussex said about her scary health condition.
Markle revealed that she and her first podcast guest, Bumble creator Whitney Wolfe Herd, “both had postpartum preeclampsia."
The scary medical condition includes high blood pressure and excess protein in urine after giving birth, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Markle admitted that it was really scary, mostly because of the unknown.
“You’re still trying to juggle all of these things, and the world doesn’t know what’s happening quietly,” she said. “And in the quiet, you’re still trying to show up for people – mostly for your children — but those things are huge medical scares.”
It's unclear when Markle went through the scary health situation. She has two children; a son, Archie, who is 5, and a daughter, Lilibet, who is 3. Markle gave birth in 2019 and again in 2021.
Markle has been getting busier and busier, though she still wants to prioritize her family and her children. She always wants to be around them.
“[I became a parent] in the pandemic, post-pandemic culture where there is so much working from home,” Markle said. “I don’t leave the house to go to an office. My office is here.
“Lili … only has a half day in preschool. If she wakes up [from her nap] and wants to find me, she knows where to find me, even if my door is closed to the office,” she added. “She’ll be sitting there on my lap during one of these meetings with a grid of all the executives.”
It's good for Markle to be opening up.
