Southwest Airlines Announces Discounted Tickets for a Short Time
Summer travel season is on the way, and what makes a fun summer trip even better is saving money on airfare. Southwest Airlines knows that people want a good deal when it come to summer travel, and they've announced the return of their Wanna Get Away Sale.
Southwest regulars know that the Wanna Get Away Sale is a good deal. The sale offers flights as low as $49 one way, so that could really add up, especially for those who are making multiple trips this summer.
According to an April 8 article in the Disney Food Blog, this current deal only runs through April 17, 2025, so passengers do have to act pretty fast. Also, the sale is valid for flights from April 29, 2025, through August 27, 2025, for U.S. Travel, so it doesn't work for passengers who want to fly to a different country. In addition, U.S. travel to and from Hawaii and San Juan is good from August 17 through October 3, 2025.
A few more stipulations are in place for this deal, too. Flights on May 26, which is Memorial Day, are blacked out. Also, flights have to be booked at least 21 days in advance to qualify. Passengers can also check out the airline's low fare calendar for deals.
Southwest Airlines has made quite a few changes lately, so customers will likely be happy to see some nostalgic news in the form of a new Wanna Get Away sale. Later this year, Southwest will be closing out its open seating policy, and not all passengers will be able to get two free checked bags.
Passengers who book their flight before May 28, 2025, are still able to enjoy the free checked bags, but after that date, they won't be free anymore. Also, Southwest will start offering the option to book assigned and premium seating in the second half of 2025, and the airline will start operating with assigned seating in 2026.
