Schenectady man charged with attempted murder after Albany stabbing
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany Police arrested a Schenectady man in connection to a stabbing on Tuesday afternoon. Jose Martinez, 22, is facing felony charges.
On April 8 just after 2:45 p.m., officers responding to Kent Street found a 16-year-old with a stab wound to the back. The victim remains at Albany Medical Center in stable condition.
Detectives learned that the teen was assaulted near Central Avenue and Quail Street. Martinez was identified as a suspect during the resulting investigation, leading to officers locating and taking him into custody near Eagle and Elm Streets shortly after the stabbing.
Martinez was charged with second-degree attempted murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was held at the Albany County Jail after being arraigned at Albany City Criminal Court on Wednesday morning.
