Gwyneth Paltrow & Brad Falchuk Claim They'll Always 'Choose' Their Kids Over Each Other
Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk just gave super-rare details about their marriage, and how their fights actually have everything to do with their kids. But let us explain: on the latest episode of The goop Podcast, Paltrow and Falchuk talked about how they’re both parents of two, and stepparents of two.
During the episode, they talked about “all the lessons of divorce” and that during a relationship, they search for someone who puts their children first before the romantic relationship, like how they do.
“If for some reason we can’t make this work, you hope you’re with somebody that would eventually have to choose his children or her children over the relationship,” Falchuk said. “To say, ‘Look, I don’t know how to get this to work, and they’re really struggling, and we’re doing everything we can. I have to choose them.'”
He also added, “I think we always believed, no matter what, that we were gonna be able to work through it, anything, no matter what it was, hard as it may be. But the part that’s scary that becomes triggering is like, yeah, but this could really blow it.”
Paltrow then clarified that “our only fights were about that.”
Now, this actually isn’t the first time either of them has talked about this. In an April 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she repeated the same thing: they only ever have disagreements about their kids.
“We don’t go that often, because we only really ever fight about one thing: our kids!” she said. “We’re here in this body and mind one time; let’s get as close to ourselves as possible and maximize that relationship. The only way to do that is through the hard truth with yourself and vulnerability with someone else, and therapy is a good place to start.”
For those who don’t know, Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin met backstage at a Coldplay concert, instantly hitting it off back in 2002. They married a little over a year later in Dec. 2003, and welcomed two children together: Apple Blythe Alison Martin, born in May 2004, and Moses Martin, born in April 2006, over their ten years of marriage.
In March 2014, they separated, with their divorce finalizing in July 2016, but they’ve worked hard ever since then to ensure their children come first as they build a new, blended family. She later married Fulchik.
As for Falchuk, he and his first wife Suzanne Bukinik, were married from 1994 to 2013. During their marriage, they welcomed two kids named Isabella, 20, and Brody, 18.
