Wife of Weezer Member Shot by Cops, Facing Felony Charges
Weezer’s planned gig at Coachella this weekend may have just hit an unexpected snag.
Just days before the Grammy-winning band is scheduled to take the stage on Saturday in Coachella’s Mojave Tent, the wife of bassist Scott Shriner was reportedly shot by Los Angeles police in a bizarre incident.

As TMZ reports, a police chase following a hit-and-run in L.A.’s Eagle Rock neighborhood on Tuesday led to Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren, unloading a weapon—presumably on one of the suspects.
The short version of the story goes like this: Police responding to a call about a hit-and-run encountered three suspects, who all fled the scene on foot. One of the three managed to scale an embankment, which placed him in a residential neighborhood.
Authorities moved quickly, setting up barricades and blocking off streets in order to find their suspect. But Lauren, a former sex worker and author of the memoir Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, decided to take matters into her own hands—literally.
According to reports, Lauren emerged from her home with a gun in her hand and began firing, presumably at the suspect. Police allegedly directed her to drop her weapon multiple times, but their instructions were ignored. Eventually, they fired a shot at Lauren, which hit her in the shoulder. She then ran back into her home.
Approximately 30 minutes later, Lauren emerged from the house again along with her babysitter—both of them with their hands held up in surrender. Authorities confirmed to TMZ that Lauren was taken to the hospital and charged with attempted murder.
While the suspect that Lauren allegedly shot at was apprehended, the other two have not yet been found.
In July, Lauren posted a video showing off her shooting skills to Instagram. It was captioned: “Working on increasing my levels of badass…”
So far, there have been no official comments on the reports by Lauren, Shriner, Weezer, or any of the band’s other members.
