From Italy: Joshua Zirkzee can help Man Utd sign 24yo Swiss star with 13-G/A this season
Manchester United could sign Bologna winger Dan Ndoye with the help of Joshua Zirkzee, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 14).
The Red Devils are set for a busy summer transfer window. The club could target multiple players to bolster the attack.
Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony could all head for the exit door this summer. United should have funds to spend on forwards.
United are already weighing up a move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, and Gazzetta claim that the club can’t be ruled out from signing Ndoye.
The Switzerland international was linked with the Red Devils last year, but a deal did not materialise.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte wanted to sign Ndoye in January as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Bologna refused to negotiate terms.
However, they may be unable to stop him from leaving this summer. Bologna consider him ‘untouchable’ and will demand at least £26 million for his exit.
Napoli are poised to return for the Swiss, but Gazzetta claim that United cannot be underestimated.
His close friend Joshua Zirkzee could convince him to join the Red Devils.
Ndoye speculation could be agent-driven
Earlier last summer, Ndoye’s agent confirmed interest from United. He highlighted that the winger had previously played for INEOS-owned Nice and Lausanne.
The Red Devils were locked in negotiations with Bologna for Zirkzee, but they did not pursue a deal for Ndoye, who managed seven goal contributions last term.
The Swiss has improved this campaign with 13 goal involvements thus far, but we are unconvinced that he would fit into manager Ruben Amorim’s future plans.
Ndoye can operate from the left or right wing. He has impressed with his duel-winning ability and high pressing, but he is prone to losing regular possession.
This has been a concern with Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee. Amorim may prefer to sign an attacker with better ball-playing ability in the final third.
The Ndoye speculation could be agent-driven to encourage bids for the summer.
Sporting CP’s Francisco Trincao would be a better fit at United. Amorim appears keen on a reunion.
The 25-year-old may cost a premium fee but he is better with the ball at his feet and has made 24 goal contributions in the ongoing campaign for Sporting CP.
