Golf Legend Inks New Deal After Announcing Masters Retirement
Golf legend Bernhard Langer has inked a deal with Sketchers.
"I've been playing golf for a long time and Skechers is the first brand I've worked with that really understands comfort on the course," Langer said in an official press release. "Their Skechers Slip-ins technology was perfect to help me through my Achilles rehab over the last year. That easy-on and off hands-free design with all the cushioning has made it so easy to feel confident for my return to Augusta."
The announcement comes just days after Langer, 67, confirmed that the 2025 Masters Championship will be his last.
"It's very emotional," Langer said in an interview on April 7. "You can tell already my voice is breaking a bit. Just realizing it's going to be my last competitive Masters after, you know, four decades... it's going to be bittersweet. I knew it was time to call it quits as a player — I wanted to do it last year but I couldn't with my achilles surgery."
"The course is just getting too long and I'm getting shorter and shorter and I'm hitting hybrids where the other kids are hitting nine irons and eight irons. Maybe wedges," he continued. "So I knew I wasn't going to be in contention anymore."
For Langer's last appearance at the Masters, he will wear custom-designed Skechers GO GOLF® shoe.
The Masters tournament kicks off on April 10 and runs through April 13.
