Fugitive accused of fatally shooting Portland father of 3 arrested in Texas
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The man accused of shooting and killing a father of three in Northeast Portland back in March was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Texas on Monday.
According to Portland police, 35-year-old Che Bell was taken into custody for the shooting death of 33-year-old Kevin Rhinehart, who was killed at the Cascade Crossings Apartment Complex on March 9.
Shortly after 7 p.m. that night, more than a dozen police units arrived at the apartments near 10500 E Burnside, not far from the East 102nd MAX station, where Rhinehart died at the scene.
On April 7, U.S. Marshals arrested Bell in Killeen, Texas. He is currently being held in the Bell County Jail on charges of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities say he is awaiting extradition back to Oregon.
