Rising pollen counts around Portland despite rainy forecast
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Pollen counts are on the rise despite Portland's inconsistent temperatures and wet-to-dry weather recently.
Spring is in full force as Portland area allergies continue to climb as spring blooms and blossoms develop. Runny noses, itchy eyes, and the occasional sneeze have become all too familiar for allergy sufferers this week. The uncomfortable feeling will continue through the weekend despite the chance of rain.
Rainy weather has already brought much of the pollen particulates to the ground and even some of the entire blooms. However, the exposure of spring buds and flowers isn't strong enough to overcome Portland's rainy and windy weather forecast this week.
The brief amount of wind and rain expected on Thursday afternoon will help decrease the pollen counts briefly. As skies begin to dry and warm again, Portlanders can expect another round of higher pollen counts and worsening allergies in the weeks to come.
