Pruyn House to host Colonie Conservation Day events
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Town of Colonie will be commemorating their annual Conservation Day at the historic Pruyn House. The celebration is scheduled for May 10 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The town will be presenting informative stations promoting conservation efforts while distributing free tree seedlings and compost. The Fort Orange Garden Club will concurrently be holding their yearly Plant Sale in the Pruyn House's Buhrmaster Barn.
The event showcases a multitude of flowers, vegetables, and herbs, as well as birdseed feeders for sale in the Potting Shed by the Blue Creek Garden Club. The Plant Sale is slated to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will also feature gardening advice sessions with growers.
"Our town’s commitment to its designation as a Tree City by the Arbor Day Foundation has allowed us to foster significant environmental sustainability and growth," Colonie Town Supervisor Peter Crummey said. "Furthermore, with Conservation Day, we will celebrate Colonie's environment, natural beauty, and our work we have done to sustain and expand our green space. I welcome all residents to head to the Pruyn House to celebrate and take advantage of all the opportunities available!"
The Pruyn House is located at 207 Old Niskayuna Road in Latham. Anyone with questions can call the historic site at (518)783-1435.
